wouldn't you know it...

downtown halifax on the first hot day smells exactly like a deep-fried exhaust pipe.

an icy cold stella and a good murder mystery can almost mend my shattered plans.

i lost my job today.
but i gained a pair of frye boots.
ask me how.

In my last dalhousie class we talked about time.
We discussed the difference of being removed from time and being attached to time.
A movie like Shrek, full of pop culture references, is attached to time.
So decades from now, only the truly informed will be able to watch it and laugh.
Remember when there was a Starbucks on every corner? They'll smirk.
How long? How long?
When will Mcdonald's stop being a cultural institution? Starbucks?
We've been hearing the Disney death rattle for years now.
It's only a matter of time before the knowledge and history of one generation is replaced by another.
Contemporary Pop Culture becomes nostalgia. Things kept in books and under glass cases, dusted by a disillusioned minimum-wager who has never heard of Led Zeppelin.

who is this? who cared about this?
i don't know this song. i don't.

There are already those who have never heard of Led Zeppelin.
And so it begins for us.

who are the ramones? who is blondie? what is a "nirvana"?
crazy old woman.
they will say.

jesus. jesus.
they will say i am old.
